About careers
Technology connects us globally and has changed what we mean by "career"
Today, we rely less on the resources of an organization to learn, grow or accelerate our opportunities. The Internet helps us explore solutions quickly and effectively. Technology gives us freedom of movement geographically and intellectually.
So today we must navigate a career rather than follow one.
Ascending a corporate hierarchy provides only one model among a widening range of career options. Now people see opportunities for careers to evolve more in parallel with their developing lives.
And line managers must coach employees who view careers from the new online generation, as well as those who worked for decades before mobile phones, email or a computer on every desk and in every hand.
How can we find new perspectives and techniques for career management?
jallé suggests exploring and better understanding "career choice points" as milestones that build a modern career path - those complex intersections between a life and work that affect future career direction, one decision at a time.
We believe that with a little thoughtful structure and creativity, we can help people consider solutions that look forward and inspire confidence, even when they are "unproven" (which will often be the case when old paths must be replaced with innovative new ones).
The next small step can make all the difference. We seek to help people take it with as much insight as possible to create more meaning and reward.
